Automating Social Media Posts

Ok, so I’ve found this pretty cool app, I just started with it but I can see already it has potential, for me anyway.

Basically it allows you to pre-schedule all your social media posts, so you can spread them out but do them all at once during each day and then schedule them accordingly.
Here is the link, right now they only allow twitter, facebook and linkedin but by December they will be adding pinterest, google +, stumble etc

Twitter – Finding Qualifed Followers

This is another way to find people on twitter, you add your bio to twellow and then pick categories. So for instance home decor, art, photography, I think I also choose picture framing (because I owned a picture framing gallery for 11 years prior to the birth of my youngest) I also choose the category extended families, kids, etc, I choose anything I have a genuine interest in. From there you can see the top hitters as well as newbies and find people to follow.

Portfolio Management

I am starting today with Microsoft Word, to organize my portfolio.

I have a word document with the name of each of my galleries on FAA. I have keywords that I use for each GALLERY that are a basis for the piece and the same for each piece in the gallery. I copy and paste these keywords when I upload new artwork. I also have basic descriptions that I start with for each upload. Again copy and Paste.

What I am starting to do today is have a word document for each PICTURE. This is named as the name of the piece. I am copying and pasting back from FAA the keywords I used and the description I used. This way I have a written record of all of this information by piece.

I am now adding #hastags to this word document and when I am going to post links in the discussion threads I will copy and paste these hashtags into my comment with my link. Then you can just copy and paste my hashtags when you post for me. Helps you, and helps me.
I also have these hashtags on hand when I am promoting myself along with the keyword and description all in one place. Easier for me.

1. Descriptions should be long and include your name, where the photograph is (location or description) your creative process, your contact info, etc.
2. Use your descriptions to come up with your keywords. If you are desperate just copy and paste individual words from your description as keywords. Also use Microstock or other keyword tool.
3. Hashtags, use your keywords to come up with your hastags, as you can see all three of these elements should build from each other.

When you post to Stumble you have the option for keywords and description, Google+ is description and hashtags, Twitter is mostly hashtags, little description, Facebook is more just description, Pinterest is description and hashtags, Tumblr is description and hashtags.

So if you have all of these sites and each one is a little different to post to, and you have a word document as easy reference, it is much easier to do. You now also have a very nice portfolio with all of this information together.

Gaining Qualified & Relevant Pinterest Followers

On Pinterest…it’s harder…but I go to the “Art” section and look for people who are pinning stuff I like or similar to mine…I click on them and see how many followers/following they have….I am looking for newbies…under 50 followers and MORE following….I then hit “follow all” and go back and re-pin the piece that attracted me to them in the first place to them …and comment on their pin and at the end say “I am flwg you now.:)” You cannot say following or Pinterest thinks you are a spammer.. Newbies are fresh..just now seeing stuff…more likely to buy…old hats may be burnt out…

What I am doing is working nicely…I am picking up about 20 followers a day.
For people who dont follow many…I just hit the like button.

Gaining Relevant & Qualified Twitter Followers

On Twitter…I find a big hitter artist…like Matt LeBlanc for instance…who has thousands of followers…I then hand pick people from his list that look like average folks and not other artists or big businesses…I look for people who are FOLLOWING more than they have followers…numbers under 1000….regular looking folks…not artists or businesses…and I follow them…then every 48 hours, I go to http://www.justunfollow.com and I get rid of anyone who didn’t follow me back. So on a Thursday night I will go and follow 100 people and then Saturday night I go to http://www.justunfollow.com and remove dead weight. I don’t do any following in the interim. After I unfollow on that Saturday night, I go and follow 100 more people from a big hitter…then Monday night I unfollow again…You can unfollow 25 for free…but that wasn’t enough for me…so I am paying the 10 a month for unlimited……you can have 2 accounts for that 10.00 a months…so it’s super cheap for me at 5.00 a month.- Sharon Cummings

Portfolio Advice – Keywords & Descriptions

I do the same thing. I also have a word document for my portfolio that has detailed descriptions of each photo so in my portfolio book I can have the image on the right side and the description on the left (in document protectors) The way I generate my key words is.:

I google the subject and get the description (they use a lot of keywords) then I copy paste the description onto a word document for my portfolio. Then I copy paste the description onto my keyword document and delete the extra words and keep the keywords I want. Another cool thing about Microsoft word is it has a review tab and allows you to do a word and character count too! hope that helps too. I noticed that if I put the keywords into lightroom it keeps the keywords when you upload your photos to FAA but they aren’t so good and some of the keywords get deleted.

Keyword Advice

This is a great keyword generation tool:
http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php
Always have your name in your keywords !!!!! If people try to search for you they won’t find you if your name is not in your keywords !!!!
I have tried to find people on here by their name and many times get nothing…….

For Descriptions:
I use wikipedia so often to get generic descriptions: Sunflower is a great example. Post a picture of a sunflower and
From Wikipedia
” copy and paste sunflower description from wikipedia”
Make sure you give credit when you copy and paste.

Have the keywords you use appear in your description.

Always start the description this way:
1. Title of work
2. Your name
3. Your website
4. Description of work (optional) – Mention where the picture was taken or painting was made. If there is a specific town or place or person in the image, write it down. ex. Washington Monument, vacation with family, etc….
5. Wikipedia or other reference to your work

I have a word document that has my basic keywords that I use on all of my pieces, sorted by gallery, and my basic description.
I copy and paste as much as I can when adding in my images.

Google and other search engines will index your work just as much as FAA search engines do. If there are no words to describe your work to the world then chances are they won’t find it if they look for it.
