In nature we never see anything isolated,
but everything in connection with something else which is before it,
beside it, under it and over it.

Purple Pucker
Pucker up is what this purple Iris seems to be saying to me. I am imagining it lifting its face to the sky and kissing the sunshine that is flowing down towards it. Breathing in the life giving rays and expressing the ultimate pleasure at just being alive. I really love the soft speckled look of this flower and the way that the bright purple on the outside gives way to the more muted shades in the center of the flower. I hope you enjoy my offering for today and have a chance to experience the great outdoors on this beautiful sunny day 🙂 Namaste

Bearded Beauty Golden Iris Garden Art
I am really enjoying combining my photography and my digital artwork lately. I am able to use photographs and take them apart as layers. After I have separated out colors and shapes then I apply filters to the various components and in the process create a smooth vs textured contrast in my images. This picture is of a bearded iris in my previous garden in Washington State. It is a heirloom variety and was rumored to have been carried there by the original settlers to the Methow Valley. I love the burgundy and gold colors and the vibrant life that seems to reside in the center of my blooming beauty……

Is Digital Art Real Art?
Digital Art

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings
I had a conversation with a friend the other day about Digital Art. He wanted to know if I was going to be taking a mix of all my work (i.e. acrylic paintings) or more of my computer art to my upcoming show. Throughout the chat the words were never said, but the implication was there. The acrylic paintings were “real art” and the digital stuff…well….not so much. I myself was resistant to computer generated artwork for years. I did not think it belonged in the same category as paintings or drawings. To me it looked “different” and as a traditional painter, I was having trouble with that. I also did not understand how much hard work it was! There is also the argument that states that you cannot get a “one of a kind” piece with digitally produced media. This is true! But you also cannot get a…
